Here is a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ). Check if your question is here before you email us. It is very important as the project team works on voluntary basis. It will help us to use our limited time to solve issues that can not be solved without us.



  • How do I contact the project team if I have a query?
    • First, check the FAQs before you contact us. If you cannot find an answer to your question, email one of the project team, stating your question, the course you are registered to, your username, surname and first name. It will help us locate your record quickly; thus being able to respond your query more quickly.
  • How do I start a course?
    • The courses are available online and offer self-directed learning. You can start a course at any time by registerting the course.
      Select a course from the Courses page and complete the registration. After the registration, click the Home button, and you will see the "MyCourse" appearing in the left menu bar. Go to the page, and click the "Start" button to begin the course.
  • How do I create an account?
    • To create an account, you first have to register for a course and upon registering your account is created. Then you can log in to the portal using your chosen user name and password.
  • How do I register for a course?
    • First, select the course you would like to register from the Courses page. Second, click the Register link on the right side bar from the course description page. Third, fill the registration form and click the submit button. Your registration is complete.
  • I cannot complete the registration. It gives me an error message.
    • Internet Explore (IE) 9 has bugs and has problems with supporting the web technology (ASP) used for the Nutrition portal despite the technology is developed by Microsoft. Please download and use Chrome or Firefox. You will be able to complete the registration without experiencing the problem.
  • I have an account but cannot log in to the website.
    • First, check if your user name and password are correct. The confirmation email you recieved right after your registration has your username and password. Next, check the case you used. Username and password are case sensitive. Note that if you have not received the confirmation email, it means a typo in the email address used for your username. Report it to
  • I have logged in to the website but cannot open the course.
    • The course is developed in Flash for desktop/laptop use. If you are using a Tablet PC, i.e. iPad, or mobile phone it won't display the course. Adobe Flash logo may appear. You can install a Flash supporting app to access the course. However, we recommend a PC/laptop as it will support the course the best. If it is not the reason, report it to
  • I have completed the Malnutrition eLearning course. How can I get a certificate?
    • You can print a certificate of completion after you have finished the Malnutrition eLearning course. Go to the MyCourse page. You will see that the status of the course changed to "Certificate | Start". If you have just completed the course, your Internet browser may not have updated the status in your MyCourse page. Refresh the page after deleting the history and temporary files in your Internet brower option or logout and log into the portal again. You will see the page updated.
      Click the certificate and it will open in your internet browser. Deselect the "header and footer" in your browser option if you do not wish to include the web addresses. You can print it or save it as a PDF if you have Adobe Acrobat.

      NOTE: if you start the course again by clicking the "Start" link, then the Certificate link will disappear until you complete the course again.
  • I have completed other nutrition courses (Courses 1 and 2). Am I going to receive a certificate?
    • No. We do not issue certificates for Course 1 Nutrition state and assessment and Course 2 Measuring nutritional status to assess risk of ill health. The courses are made available to share the materials.
  • How long will it take to complete the course?
    • Each module will take you about 1.5 to 2 hours. Your record will get stored in a database and retrieved when you log in next time. Therefore, you don't have to finish the course at once. In addition, you can use the course as many times as you like.
  • When can I take courses?
    • The courses are available online and offered for independent learning. So, you can start/take them any time you like.
  • What are the entry requirements?
    • At the moment there is no particular entry requirement.
  • Do I need experience to take the course?
    • No. The courses are very comprehensive and easy to build your understanding in the area.
  • What do I do if I do not understand the content?
    • So far no one has reported that the content is difficult to understand. The course is designed to support you to build knowledge in a very interactive, contextualised and reflective manner. Your learning experience should hopefully enjoyable.
  • What do I have to do to complete the course and is it assessed?
    • You need to complete the course modules. Each module has pre and post assessemnts. They are formative assessments to help you test your understanding and identify areas your understanding needs to be improved.
  • Can I retake assessments?
    • You can retake the unit and module post assessments as many times as you like. However, you can take the pre module assessment only once unless you restart the module.
