Southampton Clinical Research Institute

Training courses

All staff involved with clinical research must understand the principles of ICH GCP (Good Clinical Practice). Chief/Principal Investigators working on trials of investigational medicinal products (IMP) in particular need to understand the detail of ICH GCP and their responsibilities.

Investigators are required to update their own training regularly and to ensure that staff working on their projects are also up-to-date. It is recommended that investigators participate in refresher training at least once every two years.

  • Free GCP training is available for NIHR Investigators via the UKCRN
  • Other investigators and researchers can register for on-line GCP training with the Institute of Clinical Research

A programme of local training is being developed by the CLRN. The Research Design Service (RDS) hopes to provide research design master-classes for those submitting NIHR research proposals. The topics and format of these master-classes will be developed in response to the needs of local researchers. Further information will be posted here as it becomes available.
