10-13 January 2011: Postgraduate Course in Transmission Electron Microscopy Due to to cancellations, two places are now available on this course. The course is intended to train postgraduate students in the understanding and application of transmission electron microscopy (TEM) in the biomedical sciences. Students will be trained in methods of sample preparation, the principles and operation of the TEM and presentation of images (including electronic presentation). In addition, students will acquire the skills to analyse and present data, and be aware of the role, importance and relevance of TEM in biological research. It is envisaged that students should supply and work on material that is relevant to their own research project. Each student attending the course will also be supplied with a booklet containing a range of tissue processing schedules, explanatory notes on the function and operation of the microscope and ancillary equipment, hazard data sheets etc. The course fee is £100.00 for the four days. 17th September 2010 Nick joined SGH direct from school and initially worked in Chemistry before moving to Pathology some 35 years ago. All his friends and colleagues at SGH wish him a very long, happy and productive retirement. |
