Meet our students

The MSc Public Health Nutrition Masters Programme at Southampton has now been running since 2000, with the current cohort being our 10th year.

Aba Acquah said I trained as a psychiatric nurse after completing a degree in food and nutrition. Doing the MSc was a change in career direction for me as I wanted to move into the area of public health education/ promotion and felt the course in Southampton would help me make that transition. I chose it because of the reputation of the university as being one of the best and because the course was one of a few accredited by the nutrition society.  The course has really stretched and challenged me but there has also been a lot of support available when I needed it. There is also a strong commitment to continually evaluate the course to ensure that the best is being offered to students in terms of course content and structure.  It has not been easy but I have no regrets and would recommend it.

Catherine Napper noted that the MSc course in Public Health Nutrition appealed to me as it allowed me to further develop my understanding of basic principles that had been covered previously in my undergraduate degree. I really enjoyed the opportunity to put my previous nutritional knowledge into an international context. I am now going on to study medicine and believe that the public health awareness that I have developed as part of the course will be invaluable.
